Yes, they shed like snakes. As they grow their skin sloughs off. The goldies in my care start to look lumpy like they have cottage cheese under their skin. Then it falls off. My regular dojo's get a white spot on their snout just behind the barbels and next thing I know there is brownish skin floating in the tank. The goldies shed skin that is pink, so you can tell who it is. Sounds kinda gross, but I take it as a sign that they are healthy and growing. The largest reagular dojo is 7 1/2" and the largest goldie is 5" in my tank. Love the babies even when they mess the tank up. Jayne
