Clown 'Tail' disese

Well, it's been ages and ages since I looked at this site, mainly because everything is going well!

However, lately I have one clown loach who is about 4" long whose tail is being 'eaten' by some disease. It is in the curve of the tail fin between the two tips. There was a vague black line there, which disapeared and now there is quite a chunk missing. It sems to be growing slowly.

The tank is a 55 Gal. The water is fine ( ph 7.1 ) and all the nitrate/ite params are well within limits. My biggest Clown who is now about 6 1/2 " is also showing signs of this. The very edge of his tail is starting to look ragged rather than the clean edge it used to be.

Any ideas ?
