Clown loach

I have an 85 Gal tank with a number of Angel, Gourami, flying fox and other small fish. I do regular water changes so the water pollution is always at a minimum. The 4 Clowns have developed white spots on their skin. I bought so white spot medication and on reading the instruction it referred to these white spots on Clowns as a water quality problem. The water is hard but it is pre filter by a RO system. Is there anything that can be done as the fish were purchased from a local dealer who has never hear of this problem before.
