new here, looking into botia dario...

hi everyone. nice forum! need some help on a loach decision. i've taken a liking to botia dario and the little bit of research i've done indicates they might do okay in my moderately planted community. my question is-do they eat snails? i have trumpet snails that i'm actually rather fond of. i wouldn't mind if they got snacked on some, but not wiped out. i don't currently have a bottom feeder, although the blue rams like to stay near the bottom. the tanks also houses zebra danios, glowlight tetras, gold mollies, and a lone guppy. also, is it a cardinal sin to get just one of this species? i only ever see one at a time for sale. tia. :)
