Success with tubifex worms?

I am currently feeding my macracantha and modesta loaches shrimp pellets, flake food, dried blood worms and earthworms 3 times daily. I find that they do not eat these foods as readily as I would like. I wanted to try tubifex worms, but I recall reading a newsgroup posting somewhere that talked about the dangers of tubifex worms. It said something about a parasite possibility. Seeing as how they are carnivorous, would chicken livers, or some such thing work as well? If people could tell me what they have successfully fed their clowns, it would be helpful. Rat
