Packing up the UHAUL...

Hello. Over the holidays I purchased a new-to-me 75g tank from a friend. I currently have a 29g tank with 5 clowns, 2 yoyos, 4 hillstream, 1 tiger, 1 gold zebra, and 2 orange-fins (modesta?)... I bought all but the clowns & yoyos in the last 3 weeks... (I went overboard when I found out I was getting the new tank and I wish I had waited until the new tank was set up)... Anyway... the tank I have is about 8-9 months old... and with the new additions I have had an outbreak of ick and clamped-fin (which I suspect killed off some kuhlis) I have (I hope) successfully treated this problem... my question is... what is the best way to set up this new tank for a "safe" move?

I am setting it up this weekend... I plan to put fresh spring water mixed with the water I am changing out of my other tanks... to "rapid" cycle it (lfs advice) I will be planting up the tank... and using lots of african root wood and rocks... (also, I have platys from another 29g that I will be moving in to have the cycling along)

Is this "rapid" cycle okay? Is it okay to mix water from two tanks... or should I only use water from the loach tank? In another posting to this site someone suggested putting a "teaspoon" of gravel from the est. tank...

How long should I wait before moving the "kids"?

Do you suggest using stress-coat products, etc...

Thanks for whatever advice you can offer... I can hardly wait to see them in their new home... but I also want it to be a healthy move...

(Oh yea - any tricks to moving the hillstream loaches? It stressed me out watching the lfs staff get them out at the store...)
