Leaping Loach Countermeasures

I'd like to get some kuhli loaches for my tank, and having read some of the unfortunate experiences posted on this forum (real sorry to hear about your loach, Jayne), how "sealed" must a tank be to prevent 'leapers' from escaping. My tank is virtually enclosed with the exception of two cut-outs in the cover glass where all the pipework and leads come out. Would it be a wise idea to pack these cut-outs with some bubble wrap to stop fish from climbing out (I've heard kuhlis can climb) and exploring the big wide world ?
