Hillstream Loach question

I recently purchased a Hillstream Loach, actually it was advertised as a Butterfly Pleco. The fish guy said it would be OK in a planted community. Recently I have noticed bite marks in some of my plants. I also have an Otto and 2 Corys as bottom feeders and various tetras. My question is do Hillstream Loaches eat live plants and is their presence detrimental to a planted tank?
